Photo Metadata (EXIF) Scrubber
Drop a photo to see exactly what's hidden inside it — GPS location, camera model, timestamp — then download a clean copy with all of it removed.
Scrub photo metadata
How to use this tool
-
1
Drop your photo. Works with JPEG, PNG, or WEBP files straight from your phone or camera.
-
2
See what's hidden. The tool reads and displays any GPS coordinates, camera info, and timestamps embedded in the file.
-
3
Download the clean version. A stripped copy is generated automatically — same photo, none of the hidden data.
About This Tool
Most phone and camera photos carry invisible metadata called EXIF data — including the exact GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken, the camera or phone model, and the precise date and time. None of that is visible when you look at the image, but it travels with the file wherever you share it.
This tool works by redrawing your photo onto a blank canvas and re-exporting it — a process that only carries over the actual pixels, not any of the surrounding metadata. It's the same reliable method professional privacy tools use, and it happens entirely on your device.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this upload my photo anywhere?
No. Everything — reading the metadata and generating the clean copy — happens locally in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
Will the scrubbed photo look any different?
Visually, no. JPEGs are re-compressed at high quality during the process, so there can be a very slight, generally unnoticeable quality change. PNG files stay fully lossless.
What if no metadata is found?
Some photos — especially screenshots or images already shared through social media — have little or no metadata to begin with. The tool will tell you clearly if that's the case.
Does this work on GIFs?
No — animated files aren't supported, since the scrubbing process only captures a single static frame. Stick to JPEG, PNG, or WEBP.
